Exposition CAUE - Îlots Blanc
Description
The CAUE of Haute-Savoie presents the second issue of the Guides Architecture & Stations series, this time dedicated to the resort of Avoriaz, through an exclusive exhibition of photographs by François Deladerrière entitled “L’îlot blanc”.
The impact caused by the boldness of Avoriaz’s first architectural achievements—imagined as an island suspended above a cliff—is immense.
Avoriaz was shaped over more than forty years by architect Jacques Labro and his collaborators: Jean-Jacques Orzoni and Jean-Marc Roques at first, then Simon Cloutier.
In Avoriaz, snow is a building material.
This exhibition offers a reinterpretation of the guide Avoriaz, an Architecture of Snow. Through the photographs of François Deladerrière and excerpts from texts by journalist Carine Bel and architect Arnaud Dutheil, a new narrative of Avoriaz emerges.
The images on display immerse us in the world of the resort and its architecture, marked by total creative freedom.
François Deladerrière’s gaze captures the emotional essence of places, the subtle impressions of atmospheres, all those intangible qualities that define the uniqueness of Avoriaz.
