Solar Eclipse Viewing in Avoriaz

On Wednesday 12 August 2026, observe the partial solar eclipse from several locations offering an unobstructed view in Avoriaz. Free observation, subject to weather conditions.
On Wednesday 12 August 2026, a partial solar eclipse will be visible from Avoriaz.
To make the most of this phenomenon, several locations offering an unobstructed view towards the west are recommended:
the Amara district, where a musical interlude will accompany the evening;
the Chapelle area, near the top of the Proclou chairlift;
the Chapelle des Prisonniers.
This is not a supervised activity or an event organised by the Tourist Office. These locations are simply recommended as observation spots. No specific welcome, supervision or observation equipment will be provided on site.
To observe the eclipse safely, it is essential to use glasses specifically designed and certified for solar viewing. Standard sunglasses do not protect your eyes. Eclipse glasses can be purchased from the Avoriaz pharmacy.
Observation will depend on the weather conditions and visibility towards the horizon.

Safety instructions
Never look directly at the Sun without suitable protection, even during a partial eclipse.
Special eclipse glasses compliant with the ISO 12312-2 standard and in perfect condition must be worn throughout the observation. Standard sunglasses, even very dark ones, do not protect your eyes from solar radiation.
Cameras, mobile phones, binoculars, spotting scopes, telescopes and video cameras must also be fitted with solar filters specifically designed for observing the Sun. Eclipse glasses must not be placed in front of an optical device.
Children must remain under the constant supervision of an adult.
