Description

Avoriaz is a 100% pedestrian resort. Getting around is done on foot or via season-adapted transport services: horse-drawn sleighs and snowcats in winter, shuttles in summer. To book a transport service, a single contact number is available: +33 4 50 74 01 55.

Avoriaz is a fully pedestrian mountain resort, offering a peaceful and safe environment both in winter and summer. Access to and movement within the resort are exclusively on foot or via specific transport services adapted to seasonal conditions.

Winter
During the winter season, car traffic is prohibited within the resort. Getting around is ensured by: horse-drawn sleighs, the resort’s traditional taxi service, used to transport both people and luggage, snowcats, mainly operating during arrival and departure days, as well as at night. These transport solutions ensure smooth mobility throughout the snow-covered resort, while respecting the environment and pedestrian safety.

Summer
In summer, Avoriaz retains its pedestrian character. Getting around the resort is made easy by: internal shuttle services operating day and night. This car-free organisation contributes to the resort’s calm, family-friendly atmosphere and promotes a sustainable and welcoming holiday experience.

Princing

Horse-drawn sleighs can carry a maximum of 4 people, or 3 people with luggage. Fares vary depending on the route. A €4 surcharge applies for luggage. Sleigh fares are detailed further down on our page.

Snowcat rates:
A flat rate of €14.00, with or without luggage, for 1 to 5 people, plus €2 per additional person.

Opening
From 12/12 to 19/04 daily. 24h / 24h Information Notice: We inform our visitors that the horse-drawn sleigh service in the resort will end on 7 April 2026. As part of a complete renovation project of the stables, they will be demolished starting 13 April 2026. The coachmen will therefore have to vacate the premises before this date, which results in the early end of their activity. To ensure continuity of transport within the resort, the resort snowcat transport service will remain in operation until the end of the season and will replace the sleigh service.
